Association Sport For All – Suceava’s updates on the PARK project

Association Sport For All – Suceava, partner of the PARK project, has shared some current updates and plans, the main ones of which BG Be Active presented in this article.

On May 7, Mihai Androhovici, coordinator of the Association Sport for All – Suceava, held a meeting with 11 stakeholders at the Ministry of Sport in Bucharest. These were representatives of regional organizations from different parts of Romania. To note, the presentation of the PARK project materials took place in English, which was very convenient because all the participants spoke English. The discussions revolved around several ideas such as the terminology of placemaking and its understanding as a concept in the Romanian language, directions for the practical development of PARK actions, and possible immediate implications.

So far, AJSPT Suceava has had a good response from an organization in the southern Romanian city of Oltenita, located near the Danube. They have already started transforming the space near the high school and have provided some pictures of their work. Soon, on July 11, there will be a meeting with them at the organization’s headquarters, and AJSPT Suceava will see the work in progress.

Furthermore, in the Suceava region itself, the organization managed a sports activity on June 1 at a new leisure and recreation area built by the Suceava Municipality on the riverbank. It was the first event of its kind held there.

As for plans, next week AJSPT Suceava will hold two interesting events. In the center of Suceava, in a new public space organized by the municipality with European funds, an aerobic fitness convention will be conducted with trainers from Germany and Tunisia. In the city of Gura Humorului, the organization will work all week on arranging a space inside a school area with various pavement drawings and bicycle activities.

AJSPT Suceava has scheduled meetings with stakeholders in the local area for August, as well as practical activities to organize unused spaces inside some schools. The stakeholder meetings will include translation of materials into Romanian, as people who do not speak English are expected to attend.
